Platform support, licenses, and maintenance plans for OneBox, OneBoxM, and OneBoxN
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Maintenance update: The open-source OneBox and OneBoxM clients are scheduled to end maintenance on December 31, 2027. Until then, their existing support tiers and maintenance policies remain in effect. Lifecycle support will then continue through OneBoxN, with primary support on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS under the same lifecycle policy.
Moving Forward with OneBoxN
During this transition, we’ll continue to address issues according to our published support tiers. We’ll also work to bring obox’s features and sing-box configuration compatibility into alignment, helping prepare for the move to OneBoxN.
After maintenance for OneBox and OneBoxM ends, OneBoxN will provide ongoing lifecycle support within the platform coverage and lifecycle policy published here. Our commitment to a stable experience and continued support carries forward in OneBoxN. By developing the client and network core together, we aim to resolve issues more directly and deliver a more reliable, efficient experience on every platform.
1. OneBoxN: Native Client
OneBoxN is a commercial client developed by OneOh Cloud LLC. The N stands for Native. Each version uses native components for its platform: Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS.
OneBoxN uses obox, our network core developed in Rust. Designing the client and core together reduces architectural layers and bridging overhead between technology stacks, with the aim of lowering CPU usage and improving energy efficiency.
License and Privacy
OneBoxN uses a proprietary, non-open-source commercial license, distinct from OneBox’s Apache 2.0 license and OneBoxM’s GPLv3 license. All three clients follow the same privacy policy.
Platform support and minimum system requirements
Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS all receive primary support. Within each version’s supported lifecycle, we actively test new releases, maintain each version, and prioritize issues that affect everyday use.
iOS
iOS 18 or later.
macOS
macOS 14 or later.
Windows
Windows 10 or later, build 16299 (version 1709) or higher.
Android
Android 9 or later, API level 28 or higher.
Support Lifecycle Policy
OneBoxN follows the same lifecycle support policy. The shorter of the OS vendor’s official support window and the development toolchain’s support window applies. When either the OS version or its toolchain reaches the end of official support, we also end maintenance for that OS version. Paid extended maintenance programs, such as Windows ESU, are excluded.
The requirements above describe the minimum environment needed to run the client. Maintenance coverage for a specific OS version depends on this lifecycle support policy.
Internal Performance Tests
In an earlier 500-connection stress test, obox used approximately 40 to 50 MB of memory, compared with approximately 300 MB for sing-box.
This historical test covers the network core only. Hardware, protocol, duration, and memory sampling method were not fully recorded; these figures are not directly comparable to the 16-stream benchmark. Actual results vary with device, configuration, and network environment.
View Benchmark Details2. OneBox: Open-Source Desktop Client
OneBox is a cross-platform desktop GUI application built on the open-source sing-box kernel. Source code is available at github.com/OneOhCloud/OneBox.
License
Apache License, Version 2.0
OneBox integrates with sing-box by invoking its binary and communicating via HTTP API, keeping the two components as separate processes with no derived-work relationship. As a result, the GPLv3 copyleft terms of sing-box do not propagate to OneBox.
Platform Support Tiers
macOSPrimary Support
Highest priority. All new features are first implemented and validated on macOS. Bug fixes are addressed promptly.
WindowsCommunity Support
Bug reports from users and the community are accepted and reviewed. Some issues may not be fixable due to Windows system complexity. Core functionality works normally.
UbuntuExperimental Support
Best-effort support. Non-core functionality is not guaranteed. Only LTS releases within the standard 5-year support window are supported.
System vendor dates below describe the operating system’s support window, not an extension of OneBox maintenance. Support for each version ends at the earliest of its OS support deadline, its toolchain support deadline, or December 31, 2027.
macOS Versions
| Version | Status |
|---|---|
| macOS 15 Sequoia (2024) | See Apple’s current support window |
| macOS 26 Tahoe (2025) | See Apple’s current support window |
OneBox maintains alignment with Apple’s officially supported major macOS versions (typically the latest three). Reference: Apple security releases
Windows Versions
| Version | Status |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 (22H2) | End of support Oct 14, 2025 — dropped |
| Windows 11 (24H2) | Microsoft support until Oct 13, 2026 |
| Windows 11 (25H2) | Microsoft support until Oct 12, 2027 |
OneBox follows the Microsoft official support lifecycle. Windows 10 reached end-of-life on October 14, 2025; support was dropped simultaneously. Current recommended version: Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2. Reference: Microsoft Lifecycle Policy
Ubuntu Versions
| Version | Status |
|---|---|
| Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish | Canonical standard support until May 2027 |
| Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Noble Numbat | Canonical standard support until May 2029 |
Only LTS releases within the standard 5-year support window are supported (Ubuntu Pro ESM extended maintenance is excluded). Reference: Ubuntu release cycle
Support Lifecycle Policy
- Only officially supported LTS versions are covered — paid extended maintenance programs (e.g., Ubuntu Pro ESM, Windows ESU) are excluded.
- Support windows are aligned with the shorter of: the OS vendor’s official LTS support window, or the toolchain (compiler, runtime) support window.
- Once an OS version or its toolchain reaches end of official support, OneBox simultaneously drops support — no backport bug fixes will be provided.
3. OneBoxM: Open-Source Mobile Client
OneBoxM is a cross-platform mobile GUI application built on React Native, deeply integrating the sing-box kernel at the mobile platform layer. Source code is available at github.com/OneOhCloud/OneBoxRN.
License
GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3)
Due to mobile platform architecture, OneBoxM requires deep linkage and integration with the sing-box core, creating a derived-work relationship. The GPLv3 copyleft terms therefore apply, and the entire project is distributed as open source under GPLv3.
Platform Support Tiers
iOSPrimary Support
Highest priority. All new features are first implemented and validated on iOS. Bug fixes are addressed promptly.
AndroidCommunity Support
Bug reports from users are accepted and reviewed. Android fragmentation means some issues may be difficult to reproduce or fix. Core functionality works normally.
OneBoxM continues to follow its existing OS and toolchain support policy. Maintenance for each version ends at the earliest of those support deadlines or December 31, 2027.
iOS Versions
| Version | Status |
|---|---|
| iOS 18 | Currently supported |
| iOS 26 (released 2025) | Currently supported |
OneBoxM follows Apple’s official major iOS support window. iOS support lifetime is tied to device hardware support, typically 5–7 years. Reference: Apple security releases
Android Versions
| Version | Status |
|---|---|
| Android 13 | Supported |
| Android 14 | Supported |
| Android 15 | Supported |
| Android 16 (released 2025) | Supported |
Android lacks a unified official LTS policy. OneBoxM supports versions within Google’s active Android Security Bulletin coverage. Reference: Android Security Bulletins
Support Lifecycle Policy
- Support scope is based on Apple / Google official security bulletin coverage.
- The shorter of the OS vendor’s support window or the toolchain support window applies.
- Once a version loses official vendor support, OneBoxM simultaneously drops support for that version.
